Phoenix Radio Group
Sports 620 KTAR is the first major-league sports radio station in the Phoenix market. Committed to breaking sports news first, we have dynamic local sports talk, premiere ESPN Radio programming, and play-by-play coverage for the Phoenix Suns (NBA), Arizona Diamondbacks (MLB), Arizona Cardinals (NFL) and Arizona State University football and basketball (NCAA).
Our hosts John Gambadoro and Mark Asher have been teamed together on the Phoenix airwaves for almost a decade and anchor the local sports talk on Sports 620 KTAR with their signature afternoon drive show “Gambo and Ash” weekdays 1 to 6 p.m. Former Arizona Cardinals four-time NFL Pro Bowl player Ron Wolfley is teamed with 15-year talk radio veteran Doug Franz for our “Doug and Wolf in the Morning” weekdays from 5 to 9 a.m. Popular ESPN Radio personalities Dan Patrick and Colin Cowherd fill the middays, bringing a fair local/national balance to a transient population with many differing sports allegiances in one of the nation’s fastest growing cities.
Through flagship broadcast relationships with all of Arizona’s major league sports franchises and our relationship with ESPN, we air more than 250 play-by-play broadcasts every year, including the NBA Finals, World Series and BCS College Football Championships.
At Sports 620 KTAR, we are very active in the Phoenix community, including our affiliation with “The Leadership Council” and “The Pat Tillman Community Leadership Award” given out yearly and named in honor of Pat Tillman, the ASU alumnus and Arizona Cardinals football player who was tragically killed in the line of duty in Afghanistan. We also team up with “Linking Sports and Communities” to host an annual conference which enhances the relationship among athletes, sports organizations and the community.
We launched Sports 620 KTAR with an all-sports format on January 1, 2007. With the top local talent, the best of ESPN Radio and more than 250 major league play-by-play broadcasts per year, “It’s All Here” for the Arizona sports fan.
