KSL NewsRadio Launches New Show “Midday with Maria Shilaos”
May 06, 2025
SALT LAKE CITY – KSL NewsRadio has launched a new show, Midday with Maria Shilaos. Hosted by longtime KSL news anchor Maria Shilaos, the program is an expansion of Utah’s Noon News and airs weekdays from 12–3 PM. Midday with Maria Shilaos offers deeper dives into the stories that matter most, spotlighting the voices of everyday Utahns and those most affected by the news.
“This new program gives us the opportunity to spend more time with thought-provoking stories and explore the way they affect you and your family,” said Shilaos. “We frequently need to focus on breaking news at KSL — and we still will. But we will complement that coverage with stories that connect with real people and show how Utah communities are impacted.”
Maria Shilaos has been recognized by the Utah Broadcasters Association, the Society of Professional Journalists, and has received multiple regional Edward R. Murrow Awards. Among them is the 2017 award for Best Newscast for her role as host of Utah’s Noon News, honoring her outstanding work in anchoring and reporting. She also hosts The KSL Greenhouse Show and the Let’s Get Moving with Maria podcast.
Outside of KSL, Shilaos teaches radio journalism and podcasting at the University of Utah. She holds a second-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do and has spent many hours teaching martial arts at her local elementary school. She is also passionate about gardening, which she describes as a rewarding form of artistic expression.
“As a respected journalist, Maria Shilaos has earned the trust of listeners across Utah. This new show isn’t just about the news — it’s about the people behind it,” said Ruth Todd, Executive Vice President and Chief Content Officer for Bonneville International. “We’re excited for Maria to connect even more with listeners and know she’ll add value to their lives as they tune in each day.”
Midday with Maria Shilaos replaces Inside Sources, which has featured the perspectives of a range of political specialists since just after Election Day 2024.
KSL broadcasts at 102.7 FM and 1160 AM, and streams live at kslnewsradio.com and on the KSL NewsRadio App.
