10 cool Easter eggs you might have missed in Taylor Swift’s ‘Me!’ video

Taylor Swift blessed fans with a new music video for her new song “Me!” Friday morning that features Panic! At the Disco’s Brendon Urie and is bursting with color.
It’s also got a lot of fun Easter eggs scattered throughout. Here are just a few of them.
The snake
The first and most obvious one is the snake at the beginning of the video, which harkens back to imagery from Swift’s “Reputation” tour and the idea of the “old Taylor” being dead.
Astute fans noticed weeks ago that Swift’s butterfly-themed Instagram posts hinted at a transition for her as an artist.

That transition happens before our eyes in the “Me!” music video when a snake bursts into a flurry of butterflies, showing that the “Reputation” era is behind Swift and, as the single’s title and lyrics hint at, she’s more comfortable with who she is and has put her reputation behind her.

The cats
Swift hinted a week ago on Instagram that her cats would be making an appearance in the video.

Sure enough, Swift’s “two young daughters” Olivia Benson and Meredith Grey make an appearance in the video, but it also features one new kitten.
According to Swift’s Instagram and judging by the markings on the kitten in her video, that new cat is Swift’s third.

The chicks
At one point in “Me!” Swift sings, “And there’s a lot of cool chicks out there” and the camera pans to an image of a wall covered in paintings of chicks wearing sunglasses.
One painting, however, contains three women, which astute fans have pointed out look just like the Dixie Chicks.

Back in February, Swift noted in an interview with Elle that a song that always transports her to her childhood is “Cowboy Take Me Away” by the Dixie Chicks.
Some have speculated that a collaboration between Swift and the group is on its way.
The clock
At one point in the “Me!” video, the camera shows a clock sitting on a desk that reads that it’s 8:30. Some fans are theorizing that the clock is hinting at when Swift’s next album will come out: Aug. 30.

Aug. 30 happens to be a Friday, which is the standard album release day in the music industry.
The French
At the beginning of the music video, right after the snake transitions into butterflies, Swift is seen arguing in French with Brendon Urie.
Seven years ago, Swift shot a music video in France. The song? “Begin Again.”
While “Me!” may not be directly referencing the song, it wouldn’t be the first time Swift has referenced one of her older songs in new music.
It also seems fitting that in a song that seems to champion self-love and hint at Swift transitioning into a new beginning, she’d incorporate elements of “Begin Again” in some way.
The clouds
If you weren’t paying close attention, you may have missed the clouds in the “Me!” video, which morphs into a snake that tries to eat Swift. It appears to be another symbol of Swift leaving her “Reputation” era behind and rising above it.

Some have suggested the clouds indicate that Swift may collab with Ariana Grande, as clouds figure heavily in Grande’s recent albums.

Back in March, Katy Perry said she’d be open to a collaboration with Swift. Some have noticed that the video resembles imagery from Perry’s “California Gurls” era.

The word “Lover”
The word “lover” appears in the “Me!” music video, and fans are speculating that it may refer to a song title or even the title of Swift’s seventh album.

The chrysalis
A few fans have pointed out that every event in “Me!” appears to be taking place inside of a chrysalis, once again pulling the butterfly imagery forward and hinting that a new Taylor is about to break out in her next album.

All of the musical references
There are A LOT of images that seem pulled straight out of musicals in Swift’s video, as a fan on Tumblr pointed out and more fans on Twitter have noticed.

This and all of the cat references in “Me!” could be referring to the fact that Swift is starring in a movie adaptation of the musical “Cats,” which is set to release sometime in the next year or so.
The opening sounds
The opening moment of “Me!” sounds a lot like the opening to one Panic! At the Disco song.
All of the references to the “old Taylor”

One of the clearest images is the one of a pink phone on a cloud, which not only reminds listeners of the “Old Taylor can’t come to the phone right now” lyric from “Look What You Made Me Do,” but throws it way back to Swift’s roots and the vintage pink telephone in “Our Song.”
Another moment is the line in the song: “When we had that fight out in the rain / You ran after me and called my name / I never wanna see you walk away.”
If it sounds familiar, it’s because Swift had a very similar line in her song “Mine” that reads “And I remember that fight, two-thirty a.m. / ‘Cause everything was slipping right out of our hands / I ran out, crying, and you followed me out into the street.”
There’s also a moment in the “Me!” video when Brendon Urie opens his coat to reveal a heart that viewers are then pulled through.
It looks a lot like what you’d imagine Swift’s line “a kaleidoscope of loud hearts under coats” from her song “Welcome to New York” would look like.

If the “old Taylor” is truly dead, this new Taylor seems to be fully embracing who she is and has been and fans have a lot of exciting things to look forward to in her seventh album.
