“American Idol” host Ryan Seacrest made history this week by not hosting an episode of the reality show, according to CNN.

On Monday’s episode, author Bobby Bones took over hosting duties since Seacrest is sick.

“Welcome to ‘American Idol.’ Now, I am not Ryan Seacrest; I am Bobby Bones,” Bones said, according to CNN. “Sadly, Ryan is sick, and I look most like him so they asked me to fill his shoes tonight. Ryan, love you, buddy. Hope you get better.”

Bones said on Twitter that Seacrest sent him a pair of shoes as a thank you for hosting.

According to People magazine, it was the first time in “American Idol” history that Seacrest passed on hosting duties to someone else.

The episode featured all-star duets, TV Insider reports.
