Hallmark Channel to release 40 new Christmas movies in 2019
Apr 05, 2019
Hallmark will release 40 Christmas TV movies in 2019, Entertainment Weekly reports.
The network announced Thursday that it will drop 40 new Christmas movies, which will represent a new record for Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
- “In short, you will be up to your earmuffs in unlikely reunions of long-lost high school sweethearts and holiday homecomings gone wrong then right,” according to EW.
Details: Hallmark Channel will release 24 of the movies. Hallmark Movies & Mysteries will release the other 16. It’s possible more Christmas movies will be released on the network but haven’t been announced yet.
- The first of these Christmas films — “Keepsake Christmas” — will debut in July. Read the full list of movies on Entertainment Weekly.
- Popular names are expected to return when Hallmark returns with Countdown to Christmas on Oct. 25, including Kristin Chenoweth, Scott Wolf, Melissa Claire Egan and others. Lori Loughlin, normally a staple for the network, will not be in any of the films since Hallmark cut ties with her after the college admissions scandal.
Flashback: The channels set a previous record high in 2018 with 38 movies, which accounted for “about half of all new holiday TV movies across networks and streamers,” according to EW. In 2017, Hallmark set another record with 33 movies, according to People magazine.
