He’s orange, he’s kind of creepy, and during the intermission of a Philadelphia Flyers game Wednesday night, Gritty felt the wrath of one tiny goalkeeper.
What happened: During the “Mites on Ice” kids hockey game held during intermission of Wednesday’s Philadelphia Flyers game against the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Flyers mascot Gritty grabbed and then threw the glove of a little goalkeeper into the stands.
Rather than letting the incident stand, the goalkeeper skated towards Gritty and began swinging his goalie stick at the mascot.

In videos of the event, the child can be seen chasing Gritty down the ice as the announcer shouts, “Look out, Gritty!” in the background.
The child swings his stick at the mascot several times before Gritty grabs it and throws it out of the rink. From that point, the child can be seen throwing punches at Gritty before being carried off of the ice.

According to Sports Illustrated, the child was handed a game misconduct and carried straight to the locker room for the fight.
It isn’t the first time Gritty has made enemies with children. The mascot had punches thrown at him last November by Nate Babb during a “Mites on Ice” game. Babb was promptly escorted to the penalty box.
