How Disneyland plans to manage ‘Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge’ crowds

Disneyland isn’t taking any chances when it comes to having crowds in its new “Star Wars” land.

Disney officials are working in numerous ways to make sure crowd levels stay manageable when “Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge” opens up this summer, according to The Arizona Republic.

“We will be working hard to make sure guests have enough time in the land to see all those great things and experience the attraction,” said Kris Theiler, vice president of Disneyland Park, according to the Arizona Republic.

Only guests with reservations will be allowed into the park.

Disney will limit guests’ access by giving guests a virtual “boarding pass,” which will put attendees in virtual queues that will notify them when it’s time to visit.

Pathways will be widened and stroller sizes will be restricted to help keep the park flowing with guests.

Guests should have a reservation for the first three weeks: from May 31 to June 23.

There will be no standby lines.

Guests will wait in line and meet with cast members, who will show them where they can have food and drink.

Hotels: As I wrote about for the Deseret News, Disneyland hotels have already been booked up for the launch of “Galaxy’s Edge.” Staying at the hotels might be the only way people can grab a reservation, though.

“Each registered guest gets one reservation, regardless of length of stay. It doesn’t matter if you’re staying one night or five, you’ll be allowed to visit Galaxy’s Edge once during that time,” according to the Arizona Republic.

Smoking: And, as I wrote about for the Deseret News, Disneyland will soon be smoke-free just in time for “Galaxy’s Edge.”
