Twitter dunks on St. Louis after viral bagel tweet

Mar 28, 2019

By Herb Scribner

It’s time for some bagel theory.

It all began with a tweet. Alek Krautmann, who works for the National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration in St. Louis, tweeted a photo of a box of bagels cut up into little slices.

He tweeted, “Today I introduced my coworkers to the St Louis secret of ordering bagels bread sliced. It was a hit!”

Oh, the massacre.

Twitter spiraled into chaos about how Krautmann (and St. Louis) treats its bagels.

Everyone is dunking on this but as a son of St. Louis and former St. Louis Bread Co. (Panera) employee: Do not question the simple, surprising joy bread-sliced bagels bring. https://t.co/r4X2dWLzuS

Twitter jokingly pointed out other ways St. Louis would prepare food.
