Did the runtime for ‘Avengers: Endgame’ just leak?

The runtime for “Avengers: Endgame” may have just leaked.
New reports suggest that “Endgame” will run for three hours and two minutes. AMC Theaters’ landing page for the film lists three hours, two minutes as the runtime, but nothing has been confirmed yet, according to IGN.
Context: “Endgame” would be the longest Marvel Cinematic Universe movie to date if the runtime proves true. “Avengers: Infinity War” held the previous record with two hours, 29 minutes.
Flashback: Rumors have suggested for months that “Endgame” will be a lengthy film. As the Deseret News reported, “Endgame” may be so long that it could have an intermission.
- Directors Joe and Anthony Russo revealed earlier in March that the director’s cut of the film is “locked,” a sign that they’ve finished editing the film, which I wrote about for the Deseret News.
- “This is a culmination film of 22 movies, it’s a lot of storytelling to work into it. Emotion is an intrinsic part of that to us,” the Russo brothers told Collider. “When you have to tell a really complicated story and you want strong emotional moments with the characters, it just requires a certain amount of real estate. This one, in particular, feels like three hours’ worth of real estate.”
Even more: The Russo Brothers told Empire magazine that they will sometimes use footage that doesn’t appear in the movie for trailers to create a unique experience.
Joe Russo said he and his brother “use all the material that we have at our disposal to create a trailer. We look at the trailer as a very different experience than the movie, and I think audiences are so predictive now that you have to be very smart about how you craft a trailer because an audience can watch a trailer and basically tell you what’s gonna happen in the film.”
Date: “Endgame” hits theaters on April 26.
