‘American Idol’ contestant Johanna Jones gets engaged during Hollywood Week audition

Two college students got engaged on “American Idol” Monday night.
Johanna Jones, a contestant on this year’s “American Idol,” performed “Wicked Game” by Chris Isaak Monday night during the solo auditions for Hollywood Week. After her performance, her boyfriend, Matt Zavoral, approached on stage and popped the question and she agreed.
Before her performance, Jones said she wished her boyfriend could be there to see her perform.
“He’s the most supportive, loving, awesome guy I ever knew,” she said. “I don’t want to get ahead of myself but he’s probably the one.”
She said her boyfriend couldn’t be there because he was finishing up his last semester at school. Both Jones and Zavoral are finishing their degrees at Brigham Young University, according to Gary Zavoral, a media relations manager for Sutter Health, who emailed the Deseret News about the proposal.
“This is the most important performance of my life. And if I can call him and tell that I got a ‘Yes’ I just know he’d be so happy and so proud of me.”
“I’m pretty dang in love,” she added.
Jones, who is from Las Vegas, was shocked when she saw her boyfriend walk on stage.
“I couldn’t wait another day,” he said, holding the ring behind him. He got down on one knee.
“You’re the love of my life. Will you marry me?”
She agreed on the spot.

Katy Perry, who recently got engaged to Orlando Bloom, erupted into immediate tears. She also reacted in a tweet:
