‘Avengers: Endgame’ trailer is not what it seems. Here’s why

You may think you figured out the entire plot for “Avengers: Endgame” from the trailers. But Marvel Studios Kevin Feige says you’re not even close.

“Endgame” director Joe Russo reportedly told Empire magazine that “the thing that’s most important to us is that we preserve the surprise of the narrative.”

Russo said he didn’t want to spoil the plot for moviegoers ahead of the film’s release. He pointed back to a certain “Star Wars” film when explaining why.

• “When I was a kid and saw ‘The Empire Strikes Back’ at 11 a.m. on the day it opened … it so profoundly moved me because I didn’t know a … thing about the story I was going to watch. We’re trying to replicate that experience,” he said.

According to Uproxx, the Russo brothers admitted before that material seen in the trailer might not end up in the film. For example, the “Avengers: Infinity War” trailer included a shot of the Avengers running together in the battle of Wakanda. That shot never appeared in the film.

• “We use all the material that we have at our disposal to create a trailer,” the brothers said, according to Uproxx. “At our disposal are lots of different shots that aren’t in the movie that we can manipulate through CG to tell a story that we want to tell specifically for the purpose of the trailer and not for the film.”
