A Harry Potter reboot is ‘almost inevitable,’ according to Daniel Radcliffe. Here’s what he says he would want it to look like

It’s been eight years since “the boy who lived” defeated the Dark Lord on the big screen.

Now, actor Daniel Radcliffe is saying he fully expects to see a rebooted “Harry Potter” in his lifetime.

What happened: While discussing how quickly characters are recast in film franchises like “Spider-Man” and “Batman,” Radcliffe told IGN that he thinks a “Harry Potter” reboot, either on TV or film, is “almost inevitable.”

  • “I’m sure there will be some other version of it; I know I’m not the last Harry Potter I’m gonna see in my lifetime — we’ve already got a few more,” Radcliffe said, referring to Jamie Parker and Gareth Reeves, who have taken on the role for “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.”
  • Radcliffe said that though there is a “sacredness” surrounding his Harry Potter films, “the shine will wear off at some point,” and he’s interested in seeing what new adaptations may be produced in the future.

What would he want a reboot to look like? Radcliffe told TV Guide that though he expects a reboot, he doesn’t know what would be gained by putting one on television.

He does, however, think that there are other stories in the “Harry Potter” series that would be great for television.

  • When asked what he’d be most eager to see, Radcliffe said he’d be interested in a series based on the Marauders of Marauders Map fame.
  • “A series with the older generation, that could be very cool,” Radcliffe said.

Back in 2016, we started hearing rumors that Warner Brothers was looking to get Radcliffe back on the big screen as Harry for a film adaptation of “The Cursed Child.”

  • At the time, Radcliffe had said he wanted to “keep some distance” between himself and his iconic role as Potter, according to The Daily News.
  • He later told The Hollywood Reporter that when it came to revisiting the role, “I’m never going to close that door; that would be a stupid thing to do.” Radcliffe added he would be happy to let someone else take on the role.
