This El Paso zoo will let you name a cockroach after your ex. Here’s how

For happily-in-love couples, Valentine’s Day is a magical, romantic time of the year filled with flowers, chocolates and plenty of “I love yous.”

For happily, or unhappily, single people, Valentine’s Day becomes Single Awareness Day — perfect for a night on the town with the guys or girls.

But what about those recently dumped or heartbroken individuals?

Well, look no further. According to CBS News, the El Paso Zoo will help make this Valentine’s Day even more special by letting you name a cockroach after your ex.

The zoo will feed the cockroach to a meerkat on Feb. 14.

To submit a name, message the El Paso Zoo on Facebook by Feb 10, according to CBS Austin. The zoo will start displaying names on Feb. 11 on its social media.

Due to the high response for the event, the zoo announced via Facebook on Feb. 7 it will now extend the invitation to other zoo animals. The zoo said it will announce additional feeding times starting next week.

Sarah Borrego, the El Paso Zoo event coordinator, told CBS News the event is to help “get the community involved.”

“The meerkats love to get cockroaches as a snack and what better way to celebrate Valentine’s Day than by feeding them a cockroach named after your ex!” Borrego told CBS News.

The event, titled “Quit Bugging Me,” will begin at 2:15 p.m. on Feb. 14.
