Sweethearts candy may return in 2019 or 2020

Sweethearts conversation candy may make a return in the near future.
A new report from CandyStore.com showed that there will be an 80 percent drop-off in conversation heart candies in stores this Valentine’s Day.
This is in large part due to Necco, which created the candies, going out of business back in 2018, The Boston Globe reported.
However: The Spangler Candy Company bought the candy in September 2018. And it appears the hearts may return sometime in 2019, if not later, according to CandyStore.com.
- Kirk Vashaw, the CEO of Spangler, sent a statement to CandyStore.com that was spelled out with conversation hearts: “Miss U,” “Wait 4 Me” and “Back Soon.”
- Vashaw’s statement came after a previous statement — which is now deleted from Spangler’s website — that said the candies would return in 2020.
Still: Don’t worry about buying your conversation hearts. There will be knock-off brands available in stores.
Beware: Don’t get fooled with leftover candies, though. Any Sweethearts candies made available this year were likely produced prior to July 2018, according to MarketWatch.
