Larson, who refers to himself as “Jonah Hands” on Instagram, is a “crocheting prodigy,” according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Larson, a sixth-grader from La Crosse, Wisconsin, started crocheting when he was 5 years old, according to The La Crosse Tribune.

Now, he works even when he comes home from school, spinning threads with an incredible movement of his hands.

His mother told the newspaper that Larson has 20 totes full of yarn and that he receives gifts of yarn all year long.

  • “I think they’re worried the art of crocheting is going to end, and they’re just excited a young person will carry it on,” said his mother, Jennifer Larson.

Why?: His journey began when he was 5 years old and he found a crochet hook in his aunt’s bag of crocheting items, according to KARE.

Then he watched a basic YouTube video about how to crochet and learned the stitch after that. His first item was a dishcloth. “And from there on I was hooked,” he told KARE.

His inventory includes afghans, pillows, mittens and throws, which he leaves draped over chairs in his bedroom, according to KARE.

  • “They didn’t think it was possible that a 7- or 8-year-old could be doing this,” his mother said. “Many of these people that have crocheted their entire lives can’t come close to where he is now.”
