Watch: Jeff Bridges teases The Dude’s return for the Super Bowl

Jan 25, 2019

By Herb Scribner

Jeff Bridges says “The Dude” is coming back for the Super Bowl.

What happened: Bridges, who played the character The Dude in “The Big Lebowski,” tweeted out a 15-second video that shows the actor, in his current age, appearing as The Dude again.

Watch the video below.

  • As you can see, The Dude turns to the camera, looks through his shades and laughs before he walks away.
  • Then there’s a date: Feb. 3, 2019.

Why it matters: Feb. 3 is the day of the Super Bowl, which means there could be a Super Bowl ad featuring The Dude, according to ComicBook.com.

  • “This is very reminiscent of last year, when a trailer for a fake ‘Crocodile Dundee’ sequel starring Danny McBride aired as an advertisement trying to get people to visit Australia,” according to ComicBook.com.
  • Take note: There’s something to notice in the trailer, according to CBR.com: “Notably, the copyright notice at the bottom of the teaser attributes the footage to Universal Studios, which owns the property. As such, it would appear this is not a Netflix series, despite the Coen Brothers’ recent work with the streaming service.”
