Title: The album shares the name with the hit song “Thank U, Next,” which was a song from Grande addressing many of her ex-boyfriends.
First single: According to Variety, the hit song, released Nov. 3, 2018, was Grande’s first song to debut at the No. 1 spot. She released a follow-up called “7 Rings” on Jan. 18.
Grande’s previous album, “Sweetener,” dropped back in August 2018.
What it’ll have: Grande said the new album will focus on heartbreak and the tragedies she’s experienced in the last year, according to Bustle.
- She told Billboard she started recording after her longtime friend and ex-boyfriend Mac Miller passed away.
- She said she wrote the entire album in one week.
- “This (album’s) not particularly uplifting,” Grande said. “A lot of it sounds really upbeat, but it’s actually a super sad chapter.”
- She said the album will have “feminine energy and champagne and music and laughter and crying.”
