Kylie Jenner has been dethroned.
A photo of a little egg became the most-liked Instagram photo ever, dethroning Kylie Jenner, who shared the previously most-liked photo.
The photo purposefully wanted to dethrone Jenner. The account holder, world_record_egg, said in their post that they wanted to reach a new world record with the post.
- “Let’s set a world record together and get the most liked post on Instagram. Beating the current world record held by Kylie Jenner (18 million)! We got this,” the post reads.
As of this writing, the post has more than 31 million likes. See below.

Reaction: The account’s owner said in an Instagram story that the amount of likes on the photo “is madness. What a time to believe,” The Verge reported.
- Jenner responded to the moment, too, cracking an egg on the ground in a shared video. That post has more than 16 million views.

How it happened: We’ve seen many of these social media viral moments in the past. Look no farther than Ellen DeGeneres’ attempt to post the most-retweeted Twitter post ever back in 2014. It worked, but only for a moment. Other viral posts climbed the Twitter charts in the years since, according to Quartz.
According to The Atlantic, breaking world records on social media is not a new trend. The egg is just an example of one that had success.
