Jun 08, 2018
KSL TV was awarded the regional Murrow for Overall Excellence in Large Market Television, competing against stations in Utah, Wyoming, Arizona, Colorado and New Mexico.
KSL Newsradio picked up five regional Murrows across a variety of categories. Notably, the station’s coverage of President Donald Trump’s visit to Utah to re-map two national monuments earned KSL’s team regional Murrow awards for both newscast and social media.
The KTAR newsroom won three regional Edward R. Murrow Awards for overall excellence, breaking news coverage and sports reporting.
“At a time when it’s fashionable to bash so-called mainstream media, it’s more important than ever to recognize the extraordinary work of dedicated journalists who serve communities across our country,” said Radio Television Digital News Association Chairman Scott Libin.
The overall excellence award encompasses breaking news, continuing coverage, features and a web presence that reflects the depth of the newsroom.
“I’m thrilled that the KTAR News content teams are being recognized for the remarkable and important work that we see them produce each day,” said VP/Market Manager for Bonneville Phoenix Scott Sutherland.
“To win back-to-back overall excellence awards is a tremendous accomplishment that highlights the entire KTAR news, talk and digital teams efforts and their relentless commitment to cover the vital stories that impact our community.”
The breaking news award was for the team coverage of President Donald Trump’s visit to Phoenix in August.
