News-Talk 92.3 KTAR supported Special Olympics Arizona, the Law Enforcement Torch Run, Red Rock and more to unite experienced triathletes, Special Olympics triathletes, families and community members for the annual Special Olympics Sprint & Unified Triathlon on September 11, 2010. KTAR listeners were encouraged to participate in this third annual event, which featured the Sprint Triathlon where participants competed solo and the Unified Triathlon, where participants were teamed up with Special Olympic athletes. News-Talk 92.3 KTAR contributed $14,000 worth of air time and $6,000 of web resources to promote the event, with an additional on-site presence valued at $1,300. In support of the event, News-Talk 92.3 KTAR’s Mac Watson and Ashley Slechta even showed up to swim, bike and run in the Unified portion of the event! The 3rd Annual Sprint & Unified Triathlon raised $103,279 and featured more than 250 Unified and 250 Sprint participants, as well as 250 volunteers.
