Carl joined Bonneville in 2008 after 17 years with Journal Communications, based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. At Journal, he held broad and varied senior executive responsibility for the company’s radio and television operations, its digital media enterprises, and its technology group.
Just prior to joining Bonneville, Carl was Executive Vice President of Journal Broadcast Group and Vice President, Digital Media for the parent company Journal Communications.
A Seattle native, Carl graduated from the University of Washington in 1977 with a B.A. in Communications. He began his 40-year media career in Seattle before following a career path to Denver, Portland, and Milwaukee.
Married since 1986, he and his wife, Kim, have four adult children.
Carl is past chairman of the NAB Radio Board and a past member of the NAB Executive Committee. He has served the broadcasting industry in various capacities, including membership of the Radio Advertising Board of Directors, the Associated Press Advisory Board, and the Washington State Association of Broadcasters board of directors.
